The Role

This is a unique opportunity to lead the delivery of Law Society’s equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) strategy for the solicitors’ profession and make a real impact. Situated in the Membership and External Affairs Directorate, the EDI and Wellbeing (Membership) team works to ensure people from all backgrounds can join and thrive in the solicitors’ profession. Experienced in motivating and developing teams, you will manage a growing team of dedicated EDI managers, developing practical resources that help our members embed EDI in their organisations.

You’ll bring your expertise to design and deliver impactful programmes, measure outcomes, and ensure our outputs are evidence-based, member-informed and deliver lasting change for solicitors.

You will build strong relationships with  members and external stakeholders including senior stakeholders in law firms and in-house legal teams.

If you’re ready to lead, influence, and create meaningful progress towards a more diverse and inclusive solicitors’ profession, we’d love to hear from you.

What we're looking for

You bring expert knowledge of EDI issues, best practice and effective approaches for driving positive change, alongside strong understanding of legal and regulatory requirements.

You have proven people‑management experience, leading and coaching high‑performing teams.

You influence external organisations to adopt inclusive practices and manage diverse stakeholders, building relationships at senior levels.

With excellent communication, problem‑solving and organisational skills, you design, deliver and evaluate large‑scale EDI programmes that achieve measurable outcomes.

What's in it for you

This is an excellent opportunity to work with contemporary thinkers in a progressive membership organisation. The successful candidate will join a strong brand with a reputation for excellence and legal expertise, committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, and a culture of trust, clarity, excellence and respect.

We offer hybrid working (with a baseline of two days a week working at our office in Chancery Lane, London and a mandatory in-person team day once a month), a generous flexible benefits package, a friendly working environment and the opportunity to develop your career within a professional organisation.

We welcome applications from people seeking flexible or alternative working patterns and will consider these on a case-by-case basis at appointment.

Please note: if you are an internal applicant, Pay Policy will apply.
